Greece: Infections hit a new record – Death toll exceeds 21,000 mark

Greece: 61 people have lost their lives within 24 hours, while since the beginning of the epidemic a total of 21,053 deaths have been recorded

Greece reported today 50,126 new infections, 61 more deaths and 619 patients intubated.

The new laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 infections recorded in the last 24 hours are 50,126, of which 52 were identified after checks at the country’s entry gates.

The total number of infections amounts to 1,344,923 (daily change + 3.9%), of which 50.2% are men. Based on the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 264 are considered to be related to travel from abroad and 1,203 are related to an already known case.

61 people have lost their lives within 24 hours, while since the beginning of the epidemic a total of 21,053 deaths have been recorded. 95.1% had underlying disease and / or age 70 years and older.

The number of patients intubated is 619 (59.3% men). Their median age is 64 years. 79.8% have underlying disease and / or age 70 years and older. Among intubated patients, 525 (84.81%) are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 94 (15.19%) are fully vaccinated. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 3,782 patients have been discharged from the ICU.

The admission of new Covid-19 patients to the hospitals of the territory is 452 (daily change + 3.43%). The average seven-day admission is 429 patients. The median age of cases is 36 years (range 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of death is 78 years (range 0.2 to 106 years).
