Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis on Wednesday highlighted the importance of vaccinations against COVID-19 and influenza during a press conference in progress at the Health Ministry. He also said that the ministry will launch a major campaign to highlight the value of vaccination against COVID-19 for public health. “We will consider all ways so that the vaccine reaches everyone,” Georgiadis said.
He also announced that a bill will be tabled immediately to write off the fines imposed on the elderly who were not vaccinated against Covid during the pandemic. Georgiadis emphasised that COVID-19 was “here to stay and we must learn to live with it,” noting that annual vaccination must become routine, “especially for the vulnerable groups.” The minister added that all vaccination channels will be used, as happened with the flu vaccine, even pharmacies if possible.
