With finddoctors.gov.gr the waiting time for check-ups is reduced to 9 to 11 days instead of 7 weeks - 422 Health Centres and 3,300 doctors have joined the system with free services

Targeted interventions by the government and the Ministry of Health in the NHS are beginning to lead to tangible improvements in the daily lives of citizens. In the Emergency Departments (EDs ) of the Attica basin, the on-call battles remain tough, but small victories are being won as the Plan for the Improvement of On-Call Services in Attica is being implemented.

At the same time, in the field of outpatient care, the digital portal finddoctors.gov.gr for making free appointments with doctors as well as for examinations has changed the way and time of service for hundreds of thousands of Greeks within its first month of operation, turning a new page in the health services received by citizens.

Recognizing the need for immediate, safe and easy access to the health system for citizens, the Ministry of Health has been attempting significant reforms in recent months. Electronic appointments with doctors and laboratories have been a reality – after two postponements due to the preparation time requested by doctors – since April 1. The first, but very positive findings from their implementation were presented last Tuesday by the leadership of the Health Ministry to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, for whom the health system is always a high priority.

215,649 appointments in one month

The 315 Health Centres (HC) and 107 Local Health Units (LHU) of the country have joined the finddoctors.gov.gr platform, as well as 3,300 doctors who are under EOPYY contract, while private doctors who wish to do so are also gradually joining the platform. The digital portal serves both those insured by the EOPYY and uninsured citizens who have free access to public health facilities.

According to the data available , within a month 215,649 electronic medical appointments were made and carried out for citizens, insured and non-insured, with the majority of them being made in public structures and doctors contracted with EOPYY in Attica. However, the platform, based on the health professionals and Primary Health Care structures that have been integrated, has the potential to serve at least 340,000 citizens per month, with a corresponding number of appointments.
