Benghazi, Libya – Osama Hamad, the Prime Minister appointed by the House of Representatives in eastern Libya, strongly defended the Libya-Turkey Memorandum on Maritime Jurisdiction Areas in response to Greece’s questioning of its legality, according to SKAI’s Istanbul correspondent. Speaking at an event in Benghazi, Hamad asserted that the agreement complies with international law and does not violate any nation’s sovereignty.

In a written statement, the Eastern Libyan government quoted Hamad as saying, “It is unacceptable to challenge the legality of agreements Libya has signed with friendly countries. Libyan-Turkish cooperation adheres to international law.” He warned Greece against continuing what he described as a provocative and escalatory policy, stating, “Libya reserves the right to take appropriate measures, including a firm response to any violation of its sovereignty, to safeguard its national security and strategic interests.”
