As the world’s largest exporter of tinned peaches, Greece sends 20% of its output to the U.S., its second-largest market.

“The timing couldn’t be worse,” said Lazaros Ioannidis, co-owner of a major processing plant in Central Macedonia. “We’re at full production capacity with no time to pivot markets.” His facility—like others in Greece’s “sea of pink” orchards—now races to process crates of yellow peaches amid fears of plummeting U.S. demand.
