The Acropolis Museum will remain open until midnight on Saturday, August 9, in celebration of the August full moon, offering locals and visitors a rare chance to experience its exhibitions under the glow of the moon and the majesty of the illuminated Parthenon.
Opening hours for the day will be from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight, with the ticket offices and gift shop closing at 11:30 p.m. Standard admission applies for entry to the museum’s permanent collections.
“Water Routes: From Nature to Myth and the Ancient City”
At 11:00 a.m., the museum will host a special guided presentation in Greek, exploring the theme of water across ancient Greek art, daily life, and myth. Drawing from select permanent exhibits and findings from the museum’s excavation site beneath the building, the 90-minute experience invites visitors to reflect on the connection between water and health, ritual, and urban well-being in antiquity.

“Allspice – Michael Rakowitz and Ancient Cultures”
In collaboration with NEON and the Greek Ministry of Culture, the museum presents Allspice, a striking temporary exhibition by Iraqi-American artist Michael Rakowitz. Blending contemporary conceptual art with ancient artifacts from the Middle East and Eastern Mediterranean, the exhibit delves into themes of cultural heritage, survival, and restoration Free admission to the Allspice exhibition

Dine Under the Moonlight
As every Saturday, the second-floor restaurant will remain open until midnight, offering breathtaking views of the Acropolis. Visitors wishing to dine under the stars are advised to make a reservation at 210 900 0915.
Excavation Site Access
Finally, the “Museum of the Excavation”, located beneath the main museum structure and featuring a preserved ancient Athenian neighborhood, will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the same day.
