Comprehensive Plan for ER Relief and Reorganization
The Ministry of Health, under the leadership of Adonis Georgiadis, is launching a radical restructuring of Emergency Departments (Tμήματα Eπειγόντων Περιστατικών – TEP) nationwide. The focus lies on reducing wait times, improving case management, and providing human-centered patient support.
+15% Increase in Patient Visits Through Auxiliary On-Call Services in Attica
Since March 2025, the auxiliary on-call system at Health Centers across Attica has led to a 15% increase in patient visits while easing the burden on major hospitals.
Reinforced Medical Staff: 188 New ER Doctors – 171 Positions in Progress
Staffing the ERs remains a top priority. The Ministry has already deployed 188 new doctors, with 171 additional positions in recruitment—87 already in advanced stages.
17,670 Citizens Guided Through ER Navigation Support (June 2025)
In collaboration with the Hellenic Red Cross, a program for guidance and psychosocial support for patients and caregivers was launched, enhancing human interaction and improving overall case flow.

47 ERs Under Full Renovation – €97.2M from the Recovery and Resilience Fund
A bold renovation project of 47 ERs is currently underway:
- 1 completed (General Hospital of Athens “KAT”)
- 26 to be completed by end of 2025
- 20 more by June 2026
Funded by the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility, this initiative strengthens infrastructure for the long term.

The modernization includes:
- 66 portable ventilators
- 68 emergency kits
- 33 plasma sterilizers
- 47 patient monitoring systems
- 33 blood refrigerators
- 33 intubation sets

The “Bracelet” System Is Changing Emergency Care
A new digital triage and monitoring system, already in use at 10 hospitals, has delivered strong initial results:
