New Infrastructure Investments in Rethymno

The Regional Government of Crete has approved new road safety and infrastructure projects in the Rethymno regional unit, with a total budget of €525,000. These projects aim to enhance road safety, restore damaged road sections, and improve access to rural areas, which are vital for the local economy and daily life.

Key Road Sections Targeted for Repairs

The works include urgent repairs and upgrades on rural and provincial roads with serious structural damage, specifically:

  • Koxare – Asomatos – Preveli Monastery
  • Dichalostrato – Myrthios – Mariou – Lefkogeia
  • As well as secondary local roads that connect smaller communities.

These interventions are considered essential for ensuring safe and uninterrupted transportation for residents, businesses, and tourists.

  • Strengthen economic activity in the countryside

Additional Emergency Repairs

Safer Roads, Stronger Communities

This investment by the Region of Crete marks a clear commitment to road safetyinfrastructure resilience, and regional development. By targeting both urban-rural connectivity and risk-prone areas, the projects are expected to significantly enhance everyday mobility, support local economies, and prepare the network for future challenges.
