This morning, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the Athens General Hospital “Hippocrates” to review the progress of the Emergency Department (ED) renovation. This project will transform the ED into a state-of-the-art urgent care center, providing citizens with safety, efficiency, and modern healthcare standards.
With funding from the Recovery Fund and the guidance of the Ministry of Health, Greece is proving that reform is not rhetoric—it is action. Meanwhile, the opposition continues to invest in pessimism and empty criticism.
The New ED – A Leap Forward in Healthcare
The renovated ED covers 990 sqm, 282 sqm larger than before, and includes:
- Modern patient triage for immediate assessment.
- Resuscitation room for critical cases.
- Multi-specialty examination rooms.
- Isolation and disinfection areas for infectious patients.
- Small biochemical lab for on-site testing.
- Short-stay patient wards for brief observation.
This upgrade positions Hippocrates Hospital as a reference center for emergency medical care in Attica.
Statistics That Speak for Themselves
- +87.9% increase in the hospital budget (94 million € in 2024 vs 2019).
- +16% increase in medical staff over the same period.
- 4.96 million € in energy efficiency upgrades funded by the NSRF, to be completed by year-end.
These numbers demonstrate measurable, visible, and substantial results.
The Political Difference is Clear
Prime Minister Mitsotakis engages with patients and staff, listens to their needs, and delivers practical solutions. The opposition continues to rely on rhetoric and complaints, offering nothing comparable in terms of tangible results.
As Adonis Georgiadis emphasizes:“The Left invests in catastrophe narratives. We invest in life, health, and citizen dignity. That is the difference.”
With the support of the Prime Minister and the leadership of Adonis Georgiadis, Greece is building modern, fully-equipped hospitals with sufficient staff. Citizens see results. The opposition sees… only words.
Healthcare reform is not a promise—it is a reality. Hippocrates Hospital is just the beginning.
