Kilkis at the Center of Health Reform
Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis concluded his three-day tour of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace with a visit to Kilkis General Hospital. “Kilkis is transforming in just 4 months,” he emphasized while inspecting the new Emergency Departments (ERs), with a total budget of €9,000,000. Once completed, the hospital will handle +30% more emergency cases efficiently, reducing delays for patients.
Modern Infrastructure and Energy Upgrades
The Minister also highlighted the energy upgrade projects, expected to cut energy consumption by 25% and improve operational efficiency. The government aims to make Kilkis a model hospital for Northern Greece, offering state-of-the-art services 24/7 for local residents.
Human Resources in Focus
During meetings with hospital staff, Georgiadis stressed the importance of increasing healthcare personnel. Current doctor shortages in Thrace reach 30-50% of staffing positions, impacting daily hospital operations. The government is committed to +150 new hires of doctors and nurses in the coming year to enhance service quality.
Government Strategy for the NHS
The tour demonstrates that the government is taking action, not just making promises: infrastructure projects, equipment investments of over €30,000,000, and staff reinforcement are reshaping the NHS across Northern Greece. From Kilkis to Kavala and Xanthi, citizens will notice tangible improvements in their everyday healthcare.
“The NHS is becoming stronger. Kilkis Hospital is becoming a model. Citizens will feel the difference immediately.”
