eized yesterday, Sunday (14/9), by the Israeli army in the occupied West Bank.
According to reports, the raid followed the beating of Adra’s brother and cousin by groups of Israeli settlers who attacked his village, Al-Tuwani, in the southern West Bank.
Tsipras’ Statement
“Basil came to Athens last June with his family. In his wife’s arms was their newborn child,” Tsipras recalled, noting that Adra had received the Prespa Peace Prize in Athens together with Israeli filmmaker Yuval Abraham for their documentary “No Other Land.”
Tsipras underlined that the violent assault is “one among thousands endured daily by the Palestinian people, who are being slaughtered and starved by Netanyahu’s government, with the tacit tolerance of the international community.”
Criticism of the EU
The former Greek PM accused the European Union of hypocrisy and failure:“As European citizens, we are ashamed by the EU’s stance, refusing to impose sanctions on Israel, proving its failure as an international power and its hypocrisy when it claims to be based on humanitarian principles and values.”
Attack on Mitsotakis
Tsipras escalated his criticism against the Greek Prime Minister:“As Greeks, we are doubly ashamed by Mr. Mitsotakis’ stance, who speaks about being on ‘the right side of history’ while blocking sanctions against the Israeli government and blatantly ignoring the catastrophe endured by the Palestinians – insulting our people, our principles, our history and our struggles.”
