Trump Targets Greece at UN: Claims 54% of Inmates Are Foreigners, Slams Europe’s Green and Migration Policies
Calls climate change “the greatest hoax ever perpetrated” and urges EU to abandon renewable energy

In a highly provocative speech that drew global attention, former U.S. President Donald Trump returned to the podium of the United Nations General Assembly, delivering a combative address that railed against the climate agenda, immigration, and Europe’s current political direction.

Trump opened his speech by declaring the “end of the green agenda,” calling climate change “the greatest hoax ever perpetrated.” He dismissed decades of scientific warnings as “wrong” and the product of “fools,” arguing that the promotion of renewable energy would lead countries into bankruptcy.

“If you don’t get out of this green scam, your countries will fail,” he warned European leaders.

Greece in the Crosshairs: “54% of Prisoners Are Foreigners”

Turning his focus to Europe, Trump launched a fierce critique of the continent’s migration policies, which he labeled as “the greatest threat to Europe.” He accused leaders of prioritizing political correctness over national security and heritage, stating:

“You’re doing this because you want to be politically correct. And you are destroying your legacy.”

Greece was singled out as an example, with Trump citing a controversial claim that “54% of prisoners in Greece are foreigners.” The comment sparked backlash on social media and reignited debate over immigration and public safety in southern Europe.

Sharp Rebuke of the UN: “You produce letters, not peace”

Trump didn’t spare the United Nations from criticism. He accused the organization of failing to prevent wars and being largely ineffective in fostering peace:

“All I got from the UN was a broken elevator and a broken teleprompter,” he quipped sarcastically.

He claimed that during his presidency, he ended seven wars, naming conflict zones such as Cambodia and Thailand, Kosovo and Serbia, the Congo and Rwanda, Pakistan and India, Armenia and Azerbaijan, Israel and Iran, and Egypt and Ethiopia.

“No president, no prime minister, no country has ever done that,” Trump stated, while also accusing the UN of offering no assistance in these efforts.

On Gaza: “Release the hostages, dead or alive”

Addressing the ongoing war in Gaza, Trump demanded that Hamas immediately release “all hostages, alive or dead,”while condemning European nations that have unilaterally recognized a Palestinian state:

“That is a reward to Hamas for the atrocities of October 7th,” he said, referring to the deadly attacks that reignited the Israel–Gaza conflict.

On Ukraine and Russia: “This war wouldn’t have happened if I were president”

Trump also commented on the war in Ukraine, claiming the conflict would have never occurred had he been in office after 2021:“It should have been a short, minor conflict – or no conflict at all.”

He warned of new, “very strong tariffs” against Russia, but stressed that sanctions alone won’t work as long as China and European countries continue purchasing Russian energy:“You are funding the war against yourselves,” he declared.

“The Golden Age of America”: Economic Bragging and Biden Attacks

Trump devoted a large portion of his speech to touting his presidential legacy, calling his term “the golden age of America.” He claimed the U.S. economy was “bigger and better than ever” under his leadership, with inflation defeatedstock markets soaring, and wages rising.

He defended his controversial tariff policies, calling them a “defensive mechanism” and promised to continue his tough stance on trade if re-elected.

As expected, Trump launched a direct attack on his successor Joe Biden, comparing their economic records and the global image of the U.S. under their respective leaderships.

He also pointed to the drop in crime rates in Washington D.C., inviting world leaders to “dine with me in the absolutely safe capital.”

Global Reactions Still Unfolding

Trump’s speech sparked immediate reactions across media, political circles, and diplomatic platforms. His claim about Greece and his denial of climate change in particular are expected to trigger further international responses and fact-checking from both scientific and governmental bodies.

As Trump ramps up his political presence ahead of the 2024 U.S. presidential election, his UN speech signals a return to the “America First” rhetoric that defined his previous term — this time with even harsher tones on global cooperation, climate policy, and immigration.
