The Greek Parliament published today, Monday, September 29, 2025, the asset declarations (“pothen esches”) of political figures for the fiscal years 2022 and 2023. The release of this data is part of the institutional framework promoting transparency and public accountability.
These declarations include detailed information on income, bank deposits, real estate, investments, and loans. Initial declarations from newly elected MPs following the 2023 general elections are also available. All statements will remain accessible on the Parliament’s official website for a period of three years.
The Parliament’s Audit Committee clarified that these declarations are published as submitted, without prior review or verification.
Who is required to file a declaration?
The obligation to submit a “pothen esches” applies to:
- Members of Parliament and Members of the European Parliament (MEPs),
- Mayors and Regional Governors,
- Financial officers of political parties,
- Spouses, separated spouses, or individuals in civil partnerships with those obliged.
For the 2023 reporting cycle, there were 1,585 filings (260 initial and 1,325 annual). For 2024, the number increased to 1,821 (275 initial and 1,546 annual).
What did the political leaders and senior figures declare?
Kyriakos Mitsotakis – President of New Democracy
In 2022, Kyriakos Mitsotakis reported income of €81,369, including around €11,200 from property rentals. He held ten bank accounts, with his largest deposit reaching €848,000. That year, he purchased a 660 sq.m. plot of land in Zagori for €74,558 and reported partial ownership (8.33%) of grazing land in Theriso. His loans totaled approximately €157,000.
In 2023, his income dropped to €70,275. The most notable change was a sharp decrease in his cash deposits — down to around €110,000 — due to the purchase of €490,575 worth of Hellenic Treasury Bills, funded by prior savings. His overall liabilities remained unchanged.
Mareva Grabowski – Spouse of Kyriakos Mitsotakis
For 2022, she declared income of €143,050, including €43,050 from property rentals. Her bank deposits exceeded €540,000, along with $177,305 in U.S. currency. She also listed outstanding debts of approximately €851,000.
In 2023, her income rose sharply to €315,207, and her total deposits exceeded €700,000. However, her debts remained high and unchanged.
Nikos Androulakis – President of PASOK
Androulakis reported €128,610 in income for 2022, €21,000 of which came from real estate. His cash holdings were significant, with €940,778 held in a Belgian bank and €135,571 in Greek banks.
His real estate portfolio includes two apartments, six shops, a plot of land, and storage spaces in Heraklion (Crete), two apartments in Athens, and another property in Belgium. He also owns a 1992 vehicle and holds shares in private companies. Importantly, he has no outstanding loans.
Sokratis Famellos – SYRIZA Parliamentary Spokesperson
For 2022, Famellos reported €88,180 in income and held eight bank accounts with a total balance of around €85,500. He co-owns seven properties in Greece and one apartment in Germany. He has outstanding loans totaling €162,500.
In 2023, his income declined to €70,570, and his deposits decreased to €57,841. There were no changes in his property portfolio, though he reported purchasing a used car (2016 model) for €8,000.
