New poll shows Nikos Dendias as the most successful minister, while citizens express overwhelming dissatisfaction with the government’s latest economic announcements.

Citizens Unimpressed by Government Performance

A revealing new poll by ALCO for Alpha TV paints a sobering picture for the Mitsotakis administration. While some ministers maintain personal popularity, the overall government approval is strikingly low—especially following the Prime Minister’s recent announcements at the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF).

Nikos Dendias: Leading the Government Bench

Nikos Dendias stands out as the most successful minister, earning 21% approval among the general population. He is followed by:

  • Kyriakos Pierrakakis: 10%
  • Kostis Hatzidakis: 7%
  • Adonis Georgiadis: 7%
  • Others (Kikilias, Kerameus, Theodorikakos, Chrysochoidis): under 3%

But the most striking finding is that a staggering 63% of respondents say “none” of the ministers are successful.

 New Democracy Voters: Clear Favorites

Among New Democracy supporters, the picture is slightly more optimistic for the ruling party, with a clear top tier:

  • Nikos Dendias: 51%
  • Kyriakos Pierrakakis: 33%
  • Adonis Georgiadis: 28%

These three represent distinct strengths: experience, digital expertise, and combative energy—making them the unofficial pillars of the government’s remaining credibility.

 Thessaloniki Measures Fail to Convince

The government’s new measures, announced at TIF, failed to inspire hope or confidence:

  • 53% of respondents said the measures would help them “not at all”
  • Only 1% claimed the measures would help them “a lot”

In addition:

  • 70% said they would have preferred a reduction in VAT or fuel taxes over the current proposals.

Political Messaging Not Landing

The public perception of the government’s direction hasn’t improved:

  • 38% say their view of the government remains unchanged
  • 31% say it’s gotten worse
  • Just 5% say it has improved

Mitsotakis Approval Dips Further

Approval of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is waning:

  • 56% say they are “not at all satisfied” with his performance
  • 23% are “slightly satisfied”
  • Only 20% are “very or fairly satisfied”

Analysis: A Government in Need of a Reset

  1. The public feels unheard and underserved, especially economically.
  2. The fatigue factor is real—neither the policies nor the personnel inspire confidence.
  3. Dendias emerges as a figure of steady leadership, combining national stature with moderate, competent public presence.
  4. Middle-class frustrations are growing, with no meaningful relief on taxes, prices, or cost of living.

Time Is Ticking – and People Are Listening

The poll reveals an urgent need for the government to rebuild trust and reclaim its narrative. With over half the country disengaged and disappointed, and only a few ministers holding the fort, political recalibration is no longer optional—it’s essential.
