ND Extends 13.2% Lead Over PASOK — Citizens Dismiss New Party Scenarios for Tsipras and Samaras
A new GPO poll for Parapolitika FM shows New Democracy maintaining a comfortable advantage, while Greeks express strong skepticism toward the idea of new parties led by former prime ministers Alexis Tsipras or Antonis Samaras.

New Democracy (ND) continues to dominate the political landscape, according to the latest survey conducted by GPO for Parapolitika FM. The governing party leads PASOK by a significant margin of 13.2 percentage points in voting intention estimates, reaffirming its position as the country’s leading political force despite a turbulent international and domestic environment.

Strong Lead for ND, Weak Opposition Landscape

Based on the poll’s results, ND garners 28.6% in estimated voting intention, while PASOK trails at 15.4%. In third place stands Greek Solution with 11.5%, followed by the Communist Party (KKE) and Course of Freedom both at 8.8%. SYRIZA, once the main opposition party, has dropped dramatically to 5.4%, signaling ongoing fragmentation within the left.

Smaller parties include Voice of Logic (3.2%), Democracy Movement (2.8%), NIKI (2.6%), MeRA25 (2.5%), and New Left (1.8%).

When respondents were asked about direct voting intention, ND maintains a solid 24.4%, PASOK follows with 13.2%, and Greek Solution records 9.9%. Course of Freedom and KKE are tied in fourth place with 7.5% each, while SYRIZA falls further behind at 4.6%.

Public Reaction to a Potential Tsipras Comeback

The poll also explored whether the creation of a new party by Alexis Tsipras could fill what many perceive as a gap in the opposition. However, 74.1% of respondents rejected this possibility, answering “no” or “probably no,” compared to 23.9% who said “yes” or “probably yes.”

When asked whether they would personally consider voting for such a formation, 78.4% stated they would be “little” or “not at all likely” to do so. This suggests that, despite Tsipras’s past as a dominant political figure, public appetite for his return under a new banner remains extremely limited.

Skepticism Even Stronger for Samaras

Similarly, when questioned about a potential new party led by former Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, respondents were even more dismissive. 78.1% said “no” or “probably no,” while only 19.8% expressed some level of support.

Furthermore, 90.3% of citizens indicated they would be unlikely to vote for a Samaras-led party — highlighting widespread disinterest in reviving old political figures and ideologies.

A Stable ND, but Unsettled Political Terrain

The findings confirm that ND remains firmly in control of the political scene, while PASOK continues to consolidate its position as the main opposition, albeit far behind. Meanwhile, the broader landscape remains fragmented, with multiple small parties competing for influence but failing to challenge ND’s dominance.

As Greece heads into a new political cycle, the GPO poll underscores one clear message: voters may be disillusioned with the current system, but they are not yet ready to embrace new political experiments led by familiar faces.
