Over 68 million travelers in the first nine months of 2025 – soaring flights and revenues.

Greek tourism is accelerating at full speed, setting new records for passenger traffic at the country’s airports. According to the latest data from 39 airports (24 under the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority, 14 under FRAPORT GREECE, and Athens International Airport), the January–September 2025 period saw 68,245,010 travelers, marking a 4.5% increase compared to 65,290,410 passengers in the same period of 2024.

Meanwhile, aircraft movements (arrivals and departures, domestic and international) rose by 3.7%, totaling 511,044 flights compared to 493,006 flights in the previous year.

“Greek tourism is writing history nonstop,” experts say, highlighting that this surge in passenger traffic reflects strong international demand and travelers’ confidence in Greece as a top global destination.

Revenue Prospects for 2025

Passenger traffic is just one part of the story. Data from the Bank of Greece on tourism revenue are expected to show a similarly strong upward trend, further boosting the national economy.

This positive momentum is also reflected in airline operations, with increased flight schedules and higher occupancy rates, while Greek destinations continue to attract travelers from around the world.

Economic Boost and Job Creation

  • Tourism contributes over 20% of GDP in regions like Crete, Rhodes, and Corfu.
  • The increase in flights and visitors is creating new jobs in hospitality, food services, and transportation.
  • The +4.5% growth in passenger traffic strengthens stability and predictability for businesses and investors.

“Greece is not just a tourist destination – it’s an economic powerhouse continuing to grow,” analysts note, emphasizing that the country is on track for record-breaking numbers in 2025.
