Adonis Georgiadis: “I Am Proud – We Stand With Israel Without Ambiguity”
Why Greece chose its side, what Israel achieved, and why history will judge this moment

“The time has come to acknowledge certain things publicly and clearly. There is no people on our planet as admirable as the Jews.”

I say this without hesitation. What we have witnessed since October 7, 2023, is not merely a regional conflict. It is a defining geopolitical struggle that has reshaped the Middle East.

Israel faced Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, the Assad regime in Syria, and above all Iran — a formidable regional power. Many predicted prolonged instability, exhaustion, even collapse. None of that happened.

Three years later, the strategic landscape looks dramatically different.

Israel’s Strategic Endurance

The leadership of Hamas has been dismantled. Hezbollah’s command structure has been severely weakened. The Assad regime has fallen. Iran has suffered direct blows to its military and nuclear infrastructure.

Israel absorbed large-scale missile attacks with remarkably limited casualties. Its society did not fracture. It united.

Political disagreements inside Israel did not translate into hesitation in defending the nation. Israelis — including many from the diaspora — rallied. They enlisted. They stood together.

That cohesion matters. It explains the outcome.

Greece’s Clear Position

“I am proud that Greece, under the leadership of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, remained a loyal ally of Israel until the very end.”

We faced pressure. We faced demonstrations. We faced political attacks from the Left and from the far Right. But Greece did not waver.

Our alliance with Israel is not symbolic. It is strategic. It is rooted in shared democratic values, regional stability, defense cooperation, and energy partnerships.

In moments of crisis, serious countries do not hide behind ambiguity. They choose.

Greece chose.

The Role of the United States

“Without the United States — and especially President Donald Trump — none of this would have happened.”

American support was decisive. The strategic deterrence posture, the targeted operations, and the political backing created the conditions for Israel to reshape the battlefield.

History will record that.

Strong alliances define outcomes in geopolitics. Weak hesitation prolongs chaos.

I am fully aware that my position generates controversy. Some accuse us of being “one-sided.” Others prefer rhetorical neutrality.

But foreign policy is not an academic seminar. It is a matter of national interest and moral clarity.

When terrorism strikes, when a democracy defends itself, and when authoritarian regimes seek regional dominance, ambiguity is not wisdom — it is avoidance.

Greece’s growing cooperation with Israel in defense, technology, and energy is not ideological. It is strategic foresight.

The Broader Middle East Equation

Iran remains a capable and serious adversary. No one underestimates that.

But the regional balance has shifted. The weakening of armed proxies, the containment of military infrastructure, and the recalibration of alliances have opened a new chapter.

If the Iranian people — a great and historic civilization — one day breathe the air of freedom, it will mark a transformation far beyond borders.

“May Iran and the great Persian people breathe the air of freedom they deserve. And may we learn from the courage and unity the Jewish people have shown.”

These are not empty words.

In historic moments, nations are judged by whether they stand firm or retreat into uncertainty.

Greece stood firm. And I remain proud of that choice.
