The repairs reportedly involve damage to the outer wall of two storage rooms and a maintenance room. Additionally, external damage was sustained to a rope-handling area, the stern, and the platform above one of the storage compartments.
"While the summer season is slowly coming to an end, wildfires continue to rage across the continent," he added.
The request was made by Greece through rescEU, the European program of voluntary assistance to EU member states during natural disasters. Italy and France responded, providing two CL-415 aircraft each.

The aircraft were made available by order of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Minister Christos Stylianides, with the ministry noting that they have so far provided assistance a total of six times to other European countries facing forest fires this summer: three times to Albania, twice to France and now to Portugal.
