“Prices around the world and in Greece have risen cumulatively for a three-year period. This budget responds to high prices by doubly supporting income. By reducing the burdens of households and businesses on the one hand and increasing wages on the other, which certainly takes some time, until the balance is restored,” he told his cabinet on Monday during the presentation of the budget.

A significant part of the difference results from the collection in October of 3.241 billion euros from the new Attiki Odos concession contract, which was scheduled to be collected in December 2024, as announced by the Ministry of National Economy and Finance.
This is up from a target of 2.133 billion euros over the same period last yeat, and compared to a primary surplus of 3.079 billion in the corresponding quarter last year

Speaking to reporters, during a press conference, Papathanasis said the Public Investment Programme will reach 12.2 billion euros in 2024, up 12% from the previous year, and will be the biggest in the last 24 years.
The budget envisages a growth rate of 3%, a harmonised inflation rate of 2,4%, a 12.1% increase in investments, an unemployment rate of 10.6% and a primary surplus of 2.1% of GDP.
The positive performance can be attributed to robust net revenue, which reached €30.875 billion, surpassing the target by 4.1%. Regular budget revenue also displayed impressive growth, amounting to €34.263 billion, exceeding the target by 5.5%.
On Friday (Nov. 18), Parliament’s own budget for 2023 will be tabled in plenary for debate and voting.
