    Οι 32 αρχηγοί Άμυνας του ΝΑΤΟ εξέλεξαν τον Γερμανό στρατηγό Carsten Breuer επόμενο πρόεδρο της Στρατιωτικής Επιτροπής. Δεν αποκτά επιχειρησιακό «έλεγχο» της Συμμαχίας, αλλά η επιλογή του έρχεται ακριβώς τη στιγμή που το ΝΑΤΟ μετακινείται από τις δεσμεύσεις για περισσότερες αμυντικές δαπάνες στην απαίτηση για πραγματικές στρατιωτικές δυνατότητες.

    NATO Turns to Germany: Carsten Breuer Takes the Alliance’s Top Military Committee Post

    Germany’s Chief of Defence, General Carsten Breuer, has been elected by NATO’s 32 Chiefs of Defence as the next Chair of the Military Committee. He will take office in the summer of 2027 at a pivotal moment: the Alliance is shifting from promises of higher defence spending to the hard requirement for deployable forces, weapons, ammunition and readiness — while Breuer has warned that Russia could possess the military capability to launch a large-scale attack against NATO territory by 2029.
