Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Wednesday described the Greek Armed Forces as undergoing “the most daring transformation since the founding of the modern Greek state,” during an event marking the integration of the V-BAT unmanned aircraft system into the Supreme Military Command of the Interior and Islands (ASDEN).
The top three countries with over 1 kW of solar power per capita are Australia (1,521 Watts per capita), the Netherlands (1,491 Watts per capita), and Germany (1,187 Watts per capita). Greece is grouped with Estonia and Austria, each having 964 Watts per capita. These figures come from the latest report by SolarPower Europe, which examines the global solar energy market outlook for the period 2025-2029.
At the heart of the agreement is “BlueWhale,” a state-of-the-art autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) developed by Israel. Designed for various high-risk maritime missions, the unmanned system is capable of covert operations, including intelligence gathering, submarine and underwater target detection, acoustic surveillance, and minefield mapping on the seabed.
Dendias called the meeting "fruitful and candid, in the framework of our long-standing, traditional bonds, common values, shared trust and mutual respect," saying it had reaffirmed "that Greece and France are close allies and friends and share the same perception regarding the developments in Europe and the wider region".
"France is one of Greece's closest partners. In the sectors of defence and security we have established a very important strategic partnership, which is constantly deepening," Mitsotakis said, praising the levels of cooperation between the two countries.
Notably, Dendias told reporters he will propose the acquisition of a fourth Belharra frigate to the Government Council for Foreign Affairs and Defense (KYSEA), with Lecornu expressing a “shared desire to move forward” with the proposal.
