This year’s programme includes 300,000 tourism cheques, with a total budget allocation of €50 million. The initiative aims to support low-income families, unemployed individuals, and other eligible citizens by subsidising domestic holiday accommodations.
This development raises both opportunities and concerns about whether Greece can secure a meaningful share of the funds and rebuild its defence sector.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Wednesday described the Greek Armed Forces as undergoing “the most daring transformation since the founding of the modern Greek state,” during an event marking the integration of the V-BAT unmanned aircraft system into the Supreme Military Command of the Interior and Islands (ASDEN).
The strategy’s motto is “Alongside children, against violence”, with the head of the expert committee that drafted it, Vasso Artinopoulou, emphasizing that “our vision is for children to grow up in a society free of violence.”
“Admitting 10,000-20,000 Chinese students every year to Greek universities, under all programs, would be a realistic goal,” according to the SiG President.
Mitsotakis emphasised that "affordable housing is a right for everyone and an obligation of the State," and noted that Tuesday's announcements were the result of a prudent and successful fiscal policy: "This is what allowed us to surpass our fiscal targets and return the surplus to citizens through targeted policies."
