The spotlight was on Greece’s AI factory, “PHAROS,” one of the first seven “schemes” approved by the European Commission. It will be developed with the “DAEDALUS” supercomputer at its core, one of the largest supercomputers in the world. “PHAROS” places Greece at the cutting edge of technological advancements, as well as among the pioneers in the responsible use of AI.
Piraeus CEO Christos Megalou recently stated that the acquisition of Ethniki Insurance, Greece’s second-largest insurer, would be instrumental in increasing the bank’s fee revenues to 30% from the current 20%. The deal underscores Piraeus’ strategy of diversifying income streams beyond traditional banking activities and into the growing insurance market.
Under the new tariffs, no fees apply to payments of obligations to the government, social security organizations, utilities, and insurance companies.
The measure aims to lower the cost of doing business and everyday transactions in Greece, with an estimated annual cost to banks of approximately €150 million.
By eliminating fees on ETF investment programs, Revolut aims to make investments more accessible to a broader audience, helping to effectively leverage investors’ money.
