The locally produced blend combines conventional marine fuel with a second-generation biofuel derived from recycled used cooking oils. The innovation, created by Motor Oil’s subsidiary Verd, is fully compliant with the new ISO 8217:2024 standards and is credited with reducing CO₂ emissions by approximately 21%.
Today and tomorrow are also expected to be the peak of the Easter outings. According to sources in the ferry market, bookings are running at about the same level as last year. From today until Good Friday, in fact, the occupancy rate on most routes for the Cyclades is 100%, while for the islands of the North Aegean, Crete and the Dodecanese it is about 60%.
This delivery, which took place on the cruise ship Celestyal Discovery at the Port of Lavrio, is the first application of the oil-biofuel blend in the Greek market, and its use reduces CO₂ emissions produced by the ship by approximately 21%.
