Greece's labour unions are calling for mass participation in the strike and rallies for May Day on Thursday, May 1. Specifically, the General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE) have scheduled a rally together with the Athens Labor Center at 11:00 on Thursday at Klafthmonos Square.
The prime minister also mentioned: the increase of declared overtime by up to 60% in specific sectors, the extension of the maternity leave from 6 to 9 months, the paternity leave for the first time, and leave arrangements for medical examinations related to reproduction.
Dendias called the meeting "fruitful and candid, in the framework of our long-standing, traditional bonds, common values, shared trust and mutual respect," saying it had reaffirmed "that Greece and France are close allies and friends and share the same perception regarding the developments in Europe and the wider region".
The reform at the Ministry of National Defense is being hailed as a government “case study” in recent days, as the significant cost savings achieved under the oversight of Defense Minister Nikos Dendias paved the way for salary increases for the Armed Forces and, eventually, all security forces in the country.
According to Mercan Group’s official announcements, the project has already entered the commercialization phase. The residential units will be marketed under the Golden Visa scheme, with prices starting at 250,000 euros, allowing investors to take advantage of recent legislative changes.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced that Greece’s minimum wage will increase to 880 euros starting on April 1, 2025.
