The ruling Conservatives has announced Fredi Beleri, an ethnic Greek mayor-elect in Albania recently sentenced to two years in prison for vote-buying, as a candidate for the upcoming European elections.
Dendias said the plan includes the upgrades of the Hellenic Air Force and Navy. Specifically, the Air Force will acquire 200 state-of-the-art aircraft by 2030, gradually removing from operation third- and fourth-generation combat aircraft.
He noted that civil servants will be getting pay raises for the first time in 14 years, as well as the higher tax-free allowance for families with children, increases in child benefit, maternity benefits, longer maternity and paternity leave and the 2,000 euros for the birth of a new child. He also referred to the programmes to assist households in buying or renovating their home, greater support for childcare costs and other measures.
In addition, the couple was charged with embezzlement in relation to cash and valuables totaling nearly 470,000 euros found in the organization's apartment used by Father Antonios, as well as cash, jewelry, and gold coins found in bank deposit boxes. Charges also pertain to 300,000 euros that appear to be missing from the organization's assets.
“There is no need for every decision, such as the opening or closing of negotiation chapters, to depend on each member country,” Scholz said. “If countries like Albania have made important reforms, this should be appreciated. Otherwise, there is a risk of damaging the entire membership process, and we should not allow this.”
