Greece has been lobbying for their return to the country for almost 200 years.
The exhibition, which will run until October 31, is made possible through a grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).
The return marks a significant step in Greece’s 40-year campaign to reclaim the Elgin Marbles, a collection of Parthenon sculptures taken by British diplomat Lord Elgin in the early 19th century, currently housed in the British Museum.
Professor Nikolaos Stampolidis delivers keynote lectures and joins the international panel on cultural repatriation.
The exhibition will then be transferred to Santorini to inaugurate the recently renovated museum, opening on June 13, 2025.
