This decision formalizes a practice already adopted by low-cost carriers like Ryanair, Vueling, EasyJet, Norwegian, and Volotea, which previously faced fines, including €179 million in Spain, for similar charges.
Using a technique known as “Caller ID Spoofing,” fraudsters pose as bank employees and manipulate caller ID to display the legitimate phone number of a bank, tricking victims into believing the call is genuine.
Launched in Athens, the voluntary app aims to enhance online safety for minors amid growing concerns about digital overexposure.
The file, compiled over two years of investigations, was forwarded to Parliament by Supreme Court Prosecutor Georgia Adeilini, as confirmed in an official document.
Mitsotakis emphasised that "affordable housing is a right for everyone and an obligation of the State," and noted that Tuesday's announcements were the result of a prudent and successful fiscal policy: "This is what allowed us to surpass our fiscal targets and return the surplus to citizens through targeted policies."
