Greece's labour unions are calling for mass participation in the strike and rallies for May Day on Thursday, May 1. Specifically, the General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE) have scheduled a rally together with the Athens Labor Center at 11:00 on Thursday at Klafthmonos Square.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced that Greece’s minimum wage will increase to 880 euros starting on April 1, 2025.
The new gross monthly minimum wage is expected to rise by 5% to 6%, reaching approximately €880, in a country where almost half of employees make less than €1,000 per month.

Hundreds of thousands of people rallied in cities and towns across Greece on Friday to demand justice on the second anniversary of the country’s deadliest-ever train crash.
According to the STASY Workers’ Unions, they will participate in the demonstrations for the Tempi protests, but the Metro, the electric and the tram will operate for a few hours in order to make it easier for people to get to the rallies.
With just a week left until the somber anniversary, the daily actions of labor centers, federations, and unions in both the private and public sectors are united under the slogan “Their profits or our lives.”
