Greeκ government imposes new measures to combat increased infections
Thanos Plevris confirmed that the first part of the new measures will be valid from tomorrow and the second part from January the 3rd.

Greek government took some additional measures in order to combat increased infection. Greek Health Minister, Thanos Plevris, stated that in the last two days there has been an increase in infections, noting that experts are trying to decode.

A clearer picture concerning the Omicron mutation will be reviewed in 10 to 15 days. As mr. Plevris said, more than 72% of the citizens have taken the third dose, while the 80% of the Greek adult population is vaccinated.

Thanos Plevris confirmed that the first part of the new measures will be valid from tomorrow and the second part from January the 3rd.

Measures applied from 6 a.m.

Mask use is mandatory both indoors and outdoors. This applies to both outdoor dining areas and gyms.

In supermarkets and public transportation mask is mandatory. A double mask or a N95 mask is recommended.

Christmas and New Year events are prohibited.

Travelers entering Greece with a PCR test will be required to repeat it on the second day and on the fourth day of arrival.

There is a strong recommendation for self test before each exit.

From January 3 onwards

There will be new measures, as Thanos Plevris said, that will concern entertainment with changes on their timetable, sports events, work from home. But all this, as he said, will be clarified on December 27 after Health Committee convenes to review the new data and make a proposal accordingly.

Along with the mandatory outdoor mask will come checks and fines for those who do not comply.

All measures will be valid from tomorrow 24th of December at 6:00 a.m.
