The Travel Weekly list

In the same spirit, an equally important distinction was won by the largest island of the Cyclades as one of the destinations that stand out in the culinary “scene” of Greece according to the British National Geographic Traveler. As part of the program of the Hellenic Tourism Organization’s British bureau and the cooperation with the Municipality, the leading travel magazine ranks Naxos in second place on the list that includes nine islands, stating that “the largest and greenest of the Cyclades islands, Naxos, was always self-sufficient when it came to its kitchen. Thanks to its fertile soil, the island is famous for its fruits, olive oil, wine and thyme honey, and it also produces a wide variety of cheeses, such as graviera, kopanisti, and arseniko.’ The impact of the destination in international media will be maintained after the planned journalistic mission of the Municipality by The Sun newspaper which reaches millions of travelers.

“”This year’s tourist season confirms the dynamics of our destination. For the period May – August, the increase in ferry arrivals compared to 2019 amounted to 7.3%, while the interest was maintained for all of September and part of October. The response of tourists from abroad is encouraging, especially mainly from America, France, England, Italy, Scandinavia, Austria, Germany, and other markets for vacations that expand the sun-sea model with gastronomy, activities, ancient monuments, local traditions, graphics villages and island hopping in the beautiful Small Cyclades”, the Deputy Mayor for Tourism of the Municipality of Naxos and Small Cyclades, Vangelis Katsaras points out.
