A self-reliant, standalone government is “a one-way street for the country to have a government on July 26,” noted New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis in his interview to ‘Proto Thema’ newspaper on Saturday.

Speaking about Greece’s upcoming runoff elections scheduled for Sunday, June 25, Mitsotakis pointed out anew that “I will not be collaborating with any political force that comes from the right of New Democracy.”

On the other hand, he added, PASOK-KINAL leader Nikos Androulakis has made it clear that he rejects me as prime minister as well as the ballot’s first party, while it is also rather clear that there is no margin for collaboration with SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance.”

Commenting on the newly founded party ‘NIKI’, which run in the May 21 elections and almost made it into Parliament, Mitsotakis said that “the positions it expresses are obscurantist (…), while at the same time it crudely exploits religious sentiment in order to serve other, hidden political agendas.”

The second four-year term “must be one of major changes, therefore the stronger the legitimacy the next government will have, the stronger will be the impetus to implement these changes,” he noted.

“Only a strong, stable government can implement all the big changes,” he added. Only 'a strong, stable government can implement all the big changes', Mitsotakis tells on Sat.
