Proposals and solutions for the sustainable development of small Greek islands will dominate the 2nd International Conference “Smart Islands” to be held on the island of Kastellorizo, on September 20-21, at the initiative of the International Hellenic Association (IHA) in cooperation with the Municipalities of Megisti, Vari-Voula-Vouliagmeni, Kalymnos and Kifissia.
The Conference is held under the auspices of the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece and aims to develop a multi-level discussion with residents, local authorities, representatives of the government, the academic community and the diaspora on the important problems of the Greek islands, such as energy, water, education, medical care, etc.
The event follows the great success of the 1st International Conference on “Smart Islands”, which was held in 2024 in Pserimos, by the International Hellenic Association (IHA) with the cooperation of the Municipalities of Voula-Vari-Vouliagmeni and Kifissia.
IHA is a non-profit and non-partisan organization based in the USA and its aim is to support Greece and Hellenism on national and cultural issues. The choice of this important initiative to target local government bodies is due to the practical interest in the issues of the Conference that these bodies have shown over time.
