A star-studded field of 69 crews from 31 countries, including 11 Greek teams, will battle it out across 345.76 kilometres of gruelling terrain, racing through four Greek regions in a high-octane spectacle set to captivate fans worldwide.

Greece is gearing up to host the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) as the legendary EKO Acropolis Rally kicks off on Thursday, turning the country into the epicenter of global motorsport.

A star-studded field of 69 crews from 31 countries, including 11 Greek teams, will battle it out across 345.76 kilometres of gruelling terrain, racing through four Greek regions in a high-octane spectacle set to captivate fans worldwide.

The seventh round of the WRC season begins at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, with Lamia serving as the rally’s central hub. The action ignites in Athens with the EKO Athens Super Special Stage at 6:05 p.m., where drivers will speed through the city before finishing at the historic Zappeion. The Rally Village there will welcome fans and teams, while breathtaking footage of Athens’ landmarks will be broadcast to over 150 countries, reaching millions of viewers.

Over three adrenaline-fueled days, competitors will tackle 17 special stages across the Peloponnese, central Greece, and Thessaly, testing their skills on some of the most challenging and scenic routes in the championship. Known for its rough gravel roads and unpredictable conditions, the Acropolis Rally remains one of the toughest tests in motorsport.

With high-speed drama, stunning backdrops, and Greece’s rich rally heritage on display, this year’s event promises to be a must-watch for racing enthusiasts around the globe according to Kathimerini.
