Bioclimatic Revolution at the Ministry of Defense: METLEN Shows Its Patriotic Strength

METLEN, under the leadership of Evangelos Mytilineos, made a patriotic and symbolically powerful move by funding and implementing the renovation of the façade and surrounding area of the historic Ministry of National Defense headquarters at the “Stratarchi Papagos” military camp.

The handover ceremony, held yesterday at the ministry courtyard, brought together 111 New Democracy MPs and dozens of government officials. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis emphasized:“In this new image of the Ministry and the surrounding grounds, we see the ambitious, bold transformation and modernization of the Hellenic Armed Forces.”

Defense Minister Nikos Dendias described the new façade as:“Not just an architectural creation – it is a mirror reflecting the uninterrupted continuity of Hellenism, its history, and its path into the future.”

Technology, aesthetics, and national pride

The project was designed by internationally renowned artist and Aristotle University professor Konstantinos Varotsos and executed by ELEMKA S.A., a METLEN subsidiary:

• The new 13,500 m² façade features vertical white aluminum shading panels, made in Greece, offering natural shading and excellent energy efficiency.
• The use of Greek-produced aluminum from METLEN’s Aluminum of Greece factory strengthens national industry and technological leadership.
• The monumental main entrance, made of white architectural concrete, is a first in Greek public spaces.

The National Memory Ark and symbolic connection

The façade faces the National Memory Ark, honoring 121,692 names of fallen soldiers.

Professor Varotsos explained:

“I first created a monument. The names of the fallen hover toward the light to remind us of the importance of peace – only the military truly knows what war means.”

The Ark, delivered in March, serves as a symbol of continuous remembrance and is part of Agenda 2030, elevating both the Armed Forces and the Ministry grounds.

Mytilineos: Patriotic duty and national power

Evangelos Mytilineos stated:“METLEN responded to an obvious patriotic duty. By strengthening infrastructure, weapon systems, and the personnel of the Armed Forces, we safeguard peace, sovereignty, and national power.”

This initiative combines innovation, technical excellence, and social impact, confirming METLEN as a pillar of Greek industry and national strength.
