Stefanos Kasselakis, leader of the Democracy Movement, has directly targeted Kyriakos Mitsotakis and New Democracy, ruling out any future collaboration. Speaking to STATUS FM 107.7, Kasselakis stated that “Mitsotakis and all those caught in a web of corruption – OPEKEPE, Tempi, and Predator wiretaps – cannot be part of our government.”
“There is no moral space to legitimize what they have done,” he added, clearly positioning the Democracy Movement as independent, anti-corruption, and pro-transparency. Kasselakis stressed the need for abolishing parliamentary and ministerial immunity, urging the public to send a strong message against politics played at the citizens’ expense.
Political Proposals and Economic Plan
At the inauguration of the party’s political office in Thessaloniki, Kasselakis proposed radical reforms to ENFIA, eliminating it for properties under €150,000 and tripling it for properties over €1 million, signaling that the Democracy Movement is unafraid to confront major financial interests.

Comments on SYRIZA and the Left
He also commented on the state of the Left, noting that he inherited figures “buried” by Tsipras, and confirmed he has not been in touch with Socratis Famellos for some time. Kasselakis was critical of Zoe Konstantopoulou, leader of Freedom Sailing, stating: “The only program she presented was herself in artificial intelligence.”
Independence vs. Party Politics
Kasselakis emphasized that the Democracy Movement aligns philosophically with PASOK, yet is far more independent:“We don’t have the centrist, compromise-driven mindset PASOK may have. You have to decide who you are with and who you are not with.”
This statement reflects the parapolitical angle of Kasselakis’ intervention, showing a clear distancing from traditional party circles while attempting to attract voters frustrated with “old politics.”
By openly attacking ND and Mitsotakis, while taking jabs at Tsipras and Konstantopoulou, Stefanos Kasselakis sends a strong message of political renewal and transparency. The Democracy Movement seems determined to break the old political molds, a strategy that could reshape future government balances and influence the configuration of the center-left spectrum in Greece.
