ExxonMobil: Countdown to Greece’s First Offshore Drilling — Ionian Sea Enters the Energy Spotlight
Greece is preparing for its first offshore exploration well since 1986, with drilling targeted for early 2027. ExxonMobil, Energean and HELLENiQ ENERGY are moving from seismic surveys to the decisive “Asopos-1” test in Block 2, where the prospective target has been estimated at around 270 billion cubic metres of gas — although no commercial discovery has yet been confirmed.
