Addressing the ceremony, Dendias stressed that the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) applies equally to all islands, regardless of size. He cited the 2020 Greece-Egypt maritime agreement, which he helped broker, as the foundation for Greece’s EEZ in the region.
In the first three months of 2025, food exports soared by 13.8%, contributing an additional €273.2 million to Greece’s export revenue. The total value reached €2.252 billion, up from €1.979 billion in the same period last year. This growth outpaced all other sectors, with only the smaller “beverages and tobacco” category slightly ahead at 14.2%.
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis hailed the agreement as a milestone in the deep-rooted ties between the two nations. “Greek-Egyptian relations have immense potential and are poised for further growth,” he said, noting that the partnership builds on a history of strong cooperation and aims to deliver tangible results.
The prime minister also mentioned: the increase of declared overtime by up to 60% in specific sectors, the extension of the maternity leave from 6 to 9 months, the paternity leave for the first time, and leave arrangements for medical examinations related to reproduction.
Overall, the monthly net flow of total deposits in the Greek banking system was positive in March, reaching 1.359 billion euros.
