According to the 2024 findings, 8.8% of Greek workers suffer from serious material and social deprivation — just behind Bulgaria’s 9.5%, and ahead of several other southern and eastern European countries, including Romania (7.8%), Hungary (5.4%), and Slovakia (3.3%).
This groundbreaking initiative aims to ensure inclusive, autonomous access to tax services and is now available through the Taxpayers’ Service Centre and the myAADElive platform.
Citing Article 74, Paragraph 2 of the Constitution, Kaklamanis expressed confidence that all political parties, including the government, support the 151-seat majority. He suggested that no further consultation with the Parliament’s Scientific Council would be necessary to clarify the matter.
The ruling, which cannot be appealed, was welcomed by Greece’s center-right government. It reduces the number of MPs in the 300-seat Hellenic Parliament to 297 and lowers the threshold for an absolute majority from 151 to 149 votes. The decision is effective for the remainder of the current parliamentary term, ending in 2027.
Both the Ministry of Shipping and senior executives within the industry confirm that ferry passenger numbers are down for the first time since the pandemic. According to the Secretary General for Ports, Port Policy, and Maritime Investment, data collected by the Ministry show a drop of at least 3% compared to the same period last year.
The figures, covering January to April 2025, reveal a sharp rise in unpaid taxes, with households and businesses adding €3 billion in new overdue debts during this period.
