Greece has emerged as the number one destination for attracting new travelers, with 24% of survey respondents who have not visited the country before expressing a desire to do so. Greece continues to register strong performance across major individual European markets:

  • Poland: For the first time, Greece has risen to the 1st position, alongside Spain and Italy, capturing 9% of Polish travel intentions—a 4% increase from the previous ETC report. This surge highlights Greece’s rising popularity in emerging markets.
  • United Kingdom: Greece holds the 2nd position, chosen by 8% of UK travelers planning trips in the near future.
  • France, Belgium, Italy: Greece ranks 4th, drawing 6% of French and Belgian travelers, and 5% of Italian travelers.
  • Netherlands, Germany, Austria: The country holds the 5th spot, with 7% of Dutch and 6% of both German and Austrian respondents selecting Greece as their upcoming destination.

One-Third of Europeans Planning Autumn Travel

While summer remains the peak travel season in Europe—with 50% of travelers planning trips in July and August, and 14% in June—there is a clear trend toward autumn getaways:

  • 22% of Europeans are planning their vacation in September
  • 8% in October
  • 3% in November

This shift toward off-peak travel reflects a growing desire among European tourists to avoid summer crowds, benefit from milder weather, and enjoy a more value-for-money experience. Greece, with its extended warm season and diverse offerings across the mainland and islands, is perfectly positioned to cater to this emerging demand.
