“Being a united society, we protect our country and our freedom,” the leader of main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance, Stefanos Kasselakis, said on Saturday and pledged that this unity will serve as the main opposition leader.
“It is an emotional day for our country, for our nation, for all Hellenism. 83 years ago Greece surprised the whole world. Much stronger countries than Greece fell against the onslaught of fascism in a few days, in a few weeks. We, the Greek people, said “No” and achieved the impossible. We achieved a resistance that changed history. We are the only country that celebrates both liberation and resistance against fascism. We must remember this day, draw inspiration from the struggles of the Greek people and realize every day that being united, we protect our country and our freedom,” Kasselakis stated.
