Former minister Andreas Loverdos announced the foundation of a new political party with the name “Democrats”, in statements made in Evros on Monday. He said its aim will be to fight for Greece to have a strong presence in Europe and to promote and improve the country’s reform. In a video message, he described the new party as “patriotic, popular, politically liberal, reformist, modernist, digital and pluralistic.” “We are Greeks in United Europe and there also we will fight all the battles for our country, the European Union and the Europe of the citizens,” Loverdos said, saying the choice of Evros to announce the new party was not a coincidence but a reflection of its position on the border of Europe. “A message leaves here and goes to all Europeans: only united and secure can we fight for the rebirth of the European Union,” he said.
