The Trump administration in the U.S. is not merely disrupting transatlantic ties; it is redefining the alliance through ideological intervention in European democracies, openly supporting far-right political forces in Germany, Poland, and beyond.

This is not a passing episode or political deviation. It is a systemic realignment: the U.S. is redrawing the rules, and Europe still seems to lack a clear strategic response.

The big question: Will Europe remain a mere spectator, or will it finally take control of its destiny? Dependence on the U.S. has reached its limits. The lack of a unified European response to MAGA policies threatens not only security but also the internal cohesion of the EU.

The solution is clear: a strategically sovereign Europe, with flexible integration and enhanced cooperation among member states. Just as with the Schengen Zone, groups of countries can move forward without waiting for unanimity, creating a new dynamic that is more effective and decisive.

Europe already has the means to resist:

• $454 billion in NATO defense spending in 2024
• 1.47 million active military personnel
• Strong defense and technology industries

The problem is not resources, but coordination, strategic integration, and political will.

Strategic capability requires collective action in defense, energy, infrastructure, and technology. The EU must invest in joint mechanisms, create political unity, and defend its sovereignty against external pressure.
