Greece’s Digital Court File – A Judicial Revolution

New platform consolidates all case files electronically, marking a major leap for transparency and efficiency.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis attended the presentation of Greece’s new digital court file, calling it a “leap forward for Justice in the digital age.” This initiative is designed to accelerate judicial processes, cut bureaucratic delays, and improve transparency.

The digital folder system allows judges, lawyers, and court staff instant access to all case documents with a single click, eliminating the need for thousands of photocopies and manual transfers. During demonstrations, lawyers managed to submit claims in just 10 minutes, compared to up to two working days with conventional paper processes.

Starting April 2026, the system will cover 60% of civil cases, expanding to all civil and criminal cases by 2027, signaling a profound modernization of the judicial system.

Mitsotakis emphasized the initiative as a prime example of European fund utilization for tangible state reforms:

“We are entering the 21st century of Justice. This is how the judiciary becomes more efficient, transparent, and citizen-friendly.”

The project is expected to reduce operational costs, save significant work hours, and even benefit the environment by cutting paper use. Legal professionals describe it as a revolutionary shift in case management, eradicating longstanding bureaucratic hurdles.

Politically, the digital court file demonstrates the government’s ability to implement large-scale digital transformation in the public sector, directly impacting hundreds of thousands of citizens and businesses across Greece.
