Greece, Egypt and Saudi Arabia will submit a joint bid to host the 2030 World Cup, according to Egyptian media. If successful, this would make it the first World Cup to be hosted across continents, in this case Europe, Africa and Asia.

Cairo 24 reported that a tripartite meeting was held to determine the final arrangements for the bid to host the event, as the three countries agreed to submit a joint bid for the world’s premier football “date” at national team level.

The report states that Egypt’s Minister of Sports and Youth, Ashraf Sobhi, expressed the intention to build a large stadium in El Alamein, in order to add to the country’s stadiums that meet specifications of hosting World Cup matches.

If the specific information is true, Greece could host World Cup matches in several new stadiums since, apart from the Agia Sophia Stadium (OPAP) in the Athens neighbourhood of New Philadelphia, by 2030 it is expected that those of Panathinaikos and PAOK will be completed.
