Dimitris Kalantzis Quartet in Athens

Pianist and composer Dimitris Kalantzis and his quartet are kicking off this year’s Jazz at the Museum program at Athens’ Goulandris Museum (goulandris.gr). The ensemble pays homage to film noir with a program capturing the genre’s atmosphere of mystery and intrigue.

He studied piano and theory at the Athens Conservatory and the Athenian Conservatory, from which he graduated with a degree in piano and fugue with distinction.

In 1990 he began studies at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music – jazz Department and graduated in 1994 with an Honors Diploma. He holds a Master’s Degree in “Music Performance” from the Ionian University.

From 2004 to 2010 he taught at the Ionian University, in the Department of Music Studies, while since 2013 he directs the Jazz School of the Athens Conservatory. He has taught at the Music High School of Piraeus, at the Nikolaos Mantzaros Conservatory and others.
