PM Mitsotakis: We need a stable and strong government

Responding to questions, he said that “I will absolutely respect the constitutional mandates, obviously I will also accept the order to form a government, since, as everything shows, we will be the first party and, depending on the election result, I will assess my moves.” Mitsotakis pointed out that “what we need today is a stable and strong government. As far as a partnership with PASOK is concerned, PASOK does not agree to the change of Article 16, it did not vote for the evaluation of civil servants, we are talking about major reforms. I have not hidden that I am in favour of stable, single-party governments.”

“This discussion does not concern me and it does not concern our party,” Mitsotakis said on what is heard about joint exploitation of hydrocarbons, stressing that we have a difference with Turkey, the demarcation of maritime zones. “Greece is already doing research for hydrocarbons, without anyone’s permission,” he underlined. Regarding the elections in Turkiye, he said that he will not take a position on the internal developments in the neighbor country, while he underlined that if he is elected, he will seek a personal contact with either Erdogan or Kılıçdaroğlu. Regarding the extension to 12 miles, he said that it is an inalienable right of Greece, but “I will not tell you when and how it will be done.” On the evacuation of citizens from Sudan, he noted: “This was a very difficult undertaking in Sudan. We did it with maximum security. We did our job right. We also had an agreement with our major allies for the security of flights. Even dogs we managed to bring back. Special permission had to be given. We have the Armed Forces to handle such missions,” he said.
