PASOK-KINAL leader Nikos Androulakis, in an interview with KONTRA TV on Thursday, focused on the way New Democracy (ND) had allowed the National Health System to sink into decline, commenting on two recent deaths in Kos and Nea Makri that were blamed on ambulance delays.
“New Democracy is essentially allocating 2 pct of Resilience and Recovery funding on health services and technical infrastructure and another 2 pct to energy upgrades in hospitals. Countries with similar problems, such as Portugal, Spain and Italy, are channeling 8-11 pct of the funds into health. We propose allocating 8-10 percent, because the National Health System is in a dire state,” he said.
Replying to ND leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who denigrated PASOK-KINAL’s economic proposals as “a nobel in nonsense”, Nikos Androulakis said: “I can’t insult him in kind. I can’t call him ignorant or nonsensical. He knows the facts and also knows what he’s doing. He is serving 1,000 families. Mitsotakis has a taxation programme and a strategy where growth, the recovery fund and his taxation priorities serve 1,000 families, who control wealth in the country and believe that the best solution for its government is Mitsotakis,” PASOK’s leader said.
