“The budget tabled by the government expresses the interests of the capital at the expense of the people’s needs. It is unfair, anti-popular and that is the reason why we are voting against it,” the general secretary of the KKE parliamentary committee, Dimitris Koutsoubas, said on Sunday in his speech to the Parliament on the State Budget 2024.
As he noted “from all the positions expressed during the state budget debate, the two political lines that exist and clash on all major issues are very clearly highlighted” and the same is the case with the biggest problem that concerns workers and the people, which is that of high prices.
He pointed out and explained in detail that everything that the ruling New Democracy government cites as causes of soaring prices “is in the DNA of the capitalist system.”
Citing electricity prices as an example, he said that “as long as the real causes that create electricity high prices remain intact, i.e. the deregulation of the energy market, the commoditization and the so-called ‘green transition’, the problem is not going to be dealt with.”
