Significant increase in COVID-19 infections, hospitalizations and deaths reported by EODY for early July

Infection rates for SARS-CoV2 continue to rise with a significant upward trend in hospital admissions, intubations and deaths, according to the National Public Health Organization (EODY) epidemiological report for the week of July 1-7.
The number of new admissions was 575, showing an upward trend. The average weekly number of new admissions over the previous four weeks was 380 and the number of admissions in the corresponding week of 2023 was 198.
For the same week of July 1-7, the number of new intubations was 9. The average weekly number of new intubations during the last four weeks was 4 and the number of intubations in the corresponding week of 2023 was 5. The number of patients with COVID-19 infection currently intubated is 13.
The death toll was 21. The average weekly number of deaths over the last four weeks was 13 and the number of deaths in the corresponding week of 2023 was 16.
All flu-related infections remained at low levels.
